The Volta River Basin (VRB) is an important transboundary basin in West Africa that covers approximately , square kilometres across six countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mali and Togo. Its natural resources sustain the livelihoods of its population and contribute to economic development. This publication by the Central Water Commission (CWC) and Regional Remote Sensing Centre – West, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) presents the status of water resources development in each of the river basins as per CWC classification. It was launched on November 1, by Minister of Water Resources Shri. Harish Rawat in a function organized at CWC, New comprehensive.

Written in an accessible style, the book consists of sections on geologic history, mineral resources, and regional geography. It includes a detailed discussion of the formation of the Minnesota River Valley following the retreat of the last glaciers from Minnesota, as well as a discussion of rock types and selected places of geological interest. The Mekong river basin is a diverse region, in approximately 70 million people lived across the six countries (CDRI, ).
